How corona virus replicates?

PATHOGENESIS
As viruses are obligate parasites they can only grow & replicate inside their hosts.
Pathogenesis by (HCoV – SARS) is produced By:
 The receptors for the (HCoV – SARS) in human are located on surface of cells.
 Intestinal enterocytes . Human Angiotensin Converting Enzyme-2.
REPLICATION
Replication of virus is optimal at 33 – 34 oC & takes place in ciliated cells of epithelium.
REPLICATIVE   CYCLE
Virus adsorb to cell via surface spikes (nemaglutinin) enters the cytoplasm & uncoats + tive strand genome is translated into large 2 polypeptides – these aggregate to from RNA Polymerase, which are self cleaved by virus encoded protease. Meanwhile mRNA’s are synthesized & then translated into structural proteins, virus again assembles & obtains its envelope from endoplasmic reticulum – replication occur in cytoplasm.

SENSITIVITY OF VIRUS
Virus is heat sensitive, can not survive about 55 o C and sensitive to lipid solvent, Non-ionic detergents, formaldehyde & oxidizing agents.
PREVENTIVE  MEASURES

Avoid Travelling to countries with high epidemics/outbreaks of disease
Keep the patients separate from others even after discharged from hospital for about 14-15 days.
 20% Patients that reach violent phases should be kept at ventilatory support allowing no close contact to a person.
